I was just filling in a questionaire about my business. It really made me think what I was doing with it. I will explain what I mean by that. Reiki to me is my life but when I started down this journey, I remember saying to my teacher at first that I was never going to treat another person. Instead I was doing it just for me. Of course that did not happen lol.
The next stage, when I trained to Teacher level, I again said this was just for me. I also said I would train 1 person only, which was my daughter. I remember him laughing at me as he just said "Watch this space!" So you see, I never meant to make reiki my business. For me it was a way to change my life for the better. The energy has a way of making things happen. Not only did I train my daughter, but I also trained her husband plus two of my Grandchildren!
First after level 2 I was asked to work in a therapy shop at weekends and I found I loved working with people. Then about 9 months after teacher level training I was telling a group of people where they could train in Glasgow when a friend asked what about me? She also said the last 3 times she was out with me people started talking about reiki. Was that not a sign? I agreed to get a website built but said I would not advertise, as if it was meant to happen that I got business through it then I would.
Next a friend came to visit and built me a website. My first very own site. I was so proud of it and her for making it for me. Within the space of a week I had people requesting all stages of training! I still was not confident so agreed to go and have coffee with someone through the Free economy website. She wanted to talk about reiki and eventually asked if I would train her. No money changed hands but after that workshop, not only was she trained but I felt super confident in teaching!
The rest, as they say, is history. It became a hobby that I did for love. Gradually it became a part time business. I found I love teaching small groups of people about reiki and how it can help their lives change as it did for me. For something that I learned orginally to help myself, I am so grateful for how many others lives I have touched through the years. If you have either been trained in reiki or had a therapy session from me, I want to thank you all for being in my life. Wow. I feel so emotional now.
Thanks
Joy

Reiki Awareness week 2018
This week from Saturday 9th June is Reiki Awareness Week. Have you heard of or had a session of reiki before? What did you think of it? What is it?
Reiki is Universal Energy. One of the misconceptions about reiki is that the practitioner is using their own energy. This is not correct. In actual fact you can find giving reiki to another actually gives you more energy! This is because the energy flows through the practitioner to the recipient.
Reiki helps your mental attitude and can make you more positive in your thoughts. It can help you de - stress and also relieve pain. As I wrote on my Facebook page today it can also help people who are terminally ill to pass over more comfortable. What is there not to like about reiki?
One of the great things about reiki is once you are attuned to the energy it is with you for life. How cool is that. I even had a student that had not used it for 7 years and was surprised to find it still worked when she called upon it to help after an injury. Even better is you do not need to carry a therapy couch around with you. All you need are your hands.
Reiki is good to have in person, but for anyone that has done level 2, they can also send it over distance and time. Imagine being able to send it to a family member on the other side of the world, or to be able to go in to an interview knowing you have sent reiki in advance. You also need to have done level 2 to be a practioner and charge members of the public.
For this special week I am offering one person the chance to win either a One to One session with me in Edinburgh, or if you are further afield, a distance session. All you need do like my Facebook page then send me a message through Facebook and I will give you a number. The draw will take place next Sunday 16th June 2018.
I have a level one workshop on Sunday 26th August 2018 and a Level 2 workshop on Sat and Sun 11th and 12th August 2018. If you are interested in taking part in either course please get in touch through my website.

Children's meditation
I put this together for my Grandchild after I made my first one for her. She is 9. My Grandson who is 13 said the first one made him so relaxed that he would pay for it. I am taking him at his word and decided it would be lovely to make personalised meditations for other children. These can include things, places or animals that the individual child loves. If this resonates with you then please get in touch.
I think in todays world it is too easy for children to get stressed. Teaching them to Meditate and go into a quiet space can help them.

PROUD TO BE SCOTTISH

They organised Sleep In The Park where 8000 people slept in Princes Street Gardens and raised an enormous amount of money. With the help of the Cyrenians who have great knowledge of homelessness, and Edinburgh Council who have loaned them a piece of land, they have now built the village with 10 houses for 20 people to live in for 12 to 18 months with full support in getting both a job and a house of their own. The council have also committed a certain number of properties and the aim in the next year is to rehome 44 additional people every month in Edinburgh. This has spread and people are now being helped in other Scottish cities. It is thought this venture will save Ediburgh Council about 75% of what they spend on people living in bedsits and B&B's.
Sleep in the park will take place again this December in 4 Scottish cities all at the same time. How fantastic is that?

So Scotland, I am super proud of all that are helping to make this vision come true. We CAN make a difference! It was also great to see how many companies helped out free of charge.

Having The Confidence To Change
I was reading today about people leaving their jobs and feeling lost as they left workmates behind. The main thing that I took on board was to make sure you have a life outside work. Those who do many events with workmates can feel more adrift after leaving that workplace. Work should not be all your life is about. It is to pay for you to have a life.
I was sitting in my garden reading this and saw a plant which made me think. Do you feel you are in the wrong place? My plant was planted 22 years ago and never flourished until it was finally moved last year by my wonderful neighbour Billy. Look at it now with all the new growth on it.
If you feel stunted where you are then open your eyes. Life is all about change. Perhaps it's time for you to make a move. Don't feel you have to stay in a stuck situation where you do not feel happy. If you cannot make a move now, then start to put things in place so you can plan for your future. Learn to do things that will make you happy outside of work too. I'm always amazed at how many people retire and have nothing to do as work was always their life. If you are moving to a new city in the UK I would highly recommend SPICE UK for making new and long term friends.

Synchronicity - The Universe Is Listening to you!
I love how synchronicy works. I just had a long conversation with a friend and heard about all the synchronistic things that were happening to her. I have had a few of my own recently including yesterday. I have a complaint open regarding an account I have. As the person persisted on calling me when I was at work and never emailing me again I thought I would get in touch with her. I went through my work internet to access my home email as she had emailed there once before but I found it blocked. Can you believe they even block my website as it is Spiritual! I then went into my account on line and found I could not remember the password as at home it automatically connects. Thinking I would have to wait until I got home to email her I gave up at that time. Not 10 mins later who should email me at my work email but the complaint handler! I had given it to her but it was the first time she had used it. I had just been thinking surely she knows to contact me through my work email lol.
Last week I went on a weekend away with a group I am a member of, and found I had a change of room share person. The person I ended up sharing with was someone I had trained in reiki years ago and never even knew she was a member of the same group. Conversations we had showed that we had been meant to meet up and we were able to have really good discussions.
Synchronicity is all around us. We only have to open our eyes and thoughts to it. Someone I know has recently written a book and she is a medium. I thought as I had no leanings in that direction that it would not be for me but recently I wondered if I should get it. It kept coming back in my mind to price. Why would I pay for something I may not end up reading? Well today she posted that it is available cheap on Kindle so I downloaded it for £1.66 and have to say how glad I am to have done so. If you have been bereaved and are struggling it is also a good book to read. The forward is written by Dr David Hamilton who has written many great informative books. If you want to check it out here is the link for Lauren Robertson's book Medium In Manolos.
Check out my website if you are interested in learning reiki. I have a course for level 2 in March and Level 1 in April.

Communities Come Together For Beast From The East
With the UK getting lots of snow over the last couple of days it brought back memories of when I was growing up. Back then all we were concerned about was throwing snowballs and making snowmen. Back to today, as an adult, we are now concerned with getting to work safely especially as there was no public transport and a red warning which means not to travel. Out of this has come many acts of kindness, from individuals, taxi firms, garages, shops and many more. Some people were offering lifts for staff and patients to get to and from Hospitals. Others were carers in communities that outside carers could not access, so they took it upon themselves to help those in need.
Many shops have been decimated and have no bread or milk left so locals have been helping others in their areas out with either giving them food or going out to the shops on their behalf. We have churches opening up to allow people a warm place to sleep and eat and people donating things including coats for the dogs. There is even a Vegan restaurant in Edinburgh called ROOTS that could not open their shop due to the pipes being iced up so they donated all the food they had to St John's Church in Princes Street.
Of course we cannot forget to thank those in our emergency services. There are stories of Doctors and nurses walking for hours to get to work as they know how much they were needed at the hospitals. There were also carers and Nurses staying at care homes and hospitals as no one could get in to take their places when they came off shift. The Police and Fire Brigade have been working overtime with the amount of people stranded on motorways and those that have been in accidents. We also had the Army in Edinburgh helping staff get to hospitals.
Of course the children are loving the fact that parents are at home rather than working. I'm sure some parents are enjoying it too. It is all about perspective. You can think the world is coming to an end with weather changes and everything else you hear in the news. Alternatively you can celebrate life and all the wonderful people we have around us.
I give my thanks to everyone that have helped others out over the last couple of days. It doesn't need to stop though when the weather clears up. Kindness goes a long way to make life worth living.
Stand up and take a bow all the people in the world that initiate Acts Of Kindness!
